Grace Bicha Oloo is Micro-finance, Entrepreneurship and business development specialist, trainer, institutional assessor and consultant with over 25 years of experience in Africa. She is also, a founding Director for KIZUKa Africa as well as Glam Royalty, a patron for Zawadi Entertainment Technology and Media House (Zentech Media House) and a Senior lecturer at University of Venda.
Ms Oloo is a recognized Certified business advisor for Institute for business Advisors in Southern Africa; Project Director for Poverty Economic and Policy Network – South Africa (PEP-CBMS). She is an accredited Micro-finance Risk Management trainer by Women World Banking (WWB-CIti). In addition, she is a professional member of a number of organisations namely, UNU- WIDER (The World Institute for Development Economic research) ,the South Africa Business and Profession Women Association, Kenya Institute of Management and Nelson Mandela Foundation.
She has held various strategic and administrative oversight positions over the years namely Director for Institute of entrepreneurship; Director for Center for micro-finance; Managing director; Regional director; General Manager and Executive Director for various organizations in Africa with a lot of work related travel within Africa.
Internationally, she has consulted and worked closely in collaboration with a number of recognized international organizations such as Ford Foundation – Southern Africa; CARE; SIDA; Thembani International Guarantee fund – South Africa; USAID; The Townships projects- CANADA, UNOPS; IGAD to name a few.
She collaborates with associates, governments and private sectors such as Department of Science and Technology south Africa, Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform, South Africa Department of Trade and Industry, South Africa Local government Agency and South Africa Association of Micro-finance.
Ms Oloo has been involved in various special assignments at Strategic and policy levels including Rural Development planning 2030 (Phakisa) for the South Africa Government; an Advisor for Student in Free Enterprise a collaboration between South Africa universities and USA, she chaired the first Africa Renaissance poverty eradication conference hosted by the South African embassy , Africa Renaissance Institute and Botswana Embassy in Tanzania, she was appointed as recognized Gender international expert involved in Peaceful negotiation between Sudan warring parties 2000. She developed a database for micro and small business women on behalf of African Business Women Institution in Kenya and initiated business leads with Global networks in USA.
She has held a number of Board of Director Positions for various organizations in Africa including TETLA Financial solutions and Promotion of Rural development and Micro-finance. A highlight of which, in 2006, Ms Oloo organized a ground breaking conferences in micro-finance that brought together experts from all over Africa and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Prof. Mohammed Yunus, Founder of Grameen Bank; to South Africa.
In 2010 and 2011 she took the lead in organizing an integrated innovation conference in South Africa that brought together government, private sector, civic society and individuals under one roof to discuss Integrated innovation for mass impact in South Africa. Her work in social- economic development issues, allows her to travel frequently in Africa and internationally as presenter, observer and discussant in conferences and related fora. She is currently leading a study on Youth unemployment and entrepreneurship in South Africa.
Ms Oloo holds an MBA from USIU University, Post graduate diploma in both Enterprise Development &Finance for Small Enterprise Development – University of Cranfield, United Kingdom Postgraduate diploma in Managing financial Organizations, University of Reading, United Kingdom and postgraduate diploma in International Micro-finance management, from the Boulders /ILO in Italy. She has also attended a series of professional training internationally
